Myonuclear Accretion SFM
Skeletal muscle maintenance relies on the presence of dedicated skeletal muscle stem cells (MuSCs). The function and physiological states of MuSCs contributing to skeletal muscle regeneration are broadly studied, but it is increasingly recognized that their contribution to adult myofibers—through a process called myonuclear accretion—is differentially regulated.
This conference will focus on how MuSCs and myofibers communicate, coordinate, and prepare for fusion; the specialized cell-type specific fusion processes involved; the integration of their cellular components post-fusion; and the contribution of myonuclear accretion to skeletal muscle maintenance in health and disease.
